The Waterbody
FLOAT HOUSE
The lazy farm animals, the subtle smell of Champa flowers, and the soothing sounds of the waves formed the mesmerising backdrop to this farm house in Alibaug.
At the waterbody, light and shadow move through the day and become part of the experience.
The brief was to design a made-to-order flooring while responding to climate, the landscape, and elevating the guest experience.
Three large waterbodies stretch across the front of the property. Designed to hold fish, water lilies, and submerged lotus pots, they create a tranquil foreground for the house.

Waterbody design is as much about waterproofing solutions, edges, transitions as it is about surfaces. The experience improves when levels, drainage, and transitions are resolved early.
Climate and maintenance realities must lead the material decisions from the start.
